Claremont Basic School 2026 Graduation

13 students transition to primary school at a ceremony full of pupil participation

CLAREMONT, St Ann; July 3, 2026

Thirteen students graduated to primary school from Claremont Basic School, a Beechamville Methodist-owned institution, St Ann. The ceremony was held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Beechamville Methodist Church, Claremont.

Malik Traille was the top student. He, Kayden Anderson, and Alecia Brooks received academic performance awards.

Some of the other awards and students receiving them were: Attendance, received by Kayden Anderson and Cataleya Barnett; Kindness Champion, Haviyah Barnett and Most Helpful, Thomas Howell.

Fifty-nine (59) students were enrolled at the end of the school year

All eight staff members were present at graduation. They are: Sharon Seymour, Principal; teachers Veneisha Dixon, Dioan Lowe, Kareen Hudson; assistant teacher, Jenien Brown Burrell; shadow for special needs student Nackita Roberts-Edwards; janitor, Vanisha Brown; and cook Cheerene Edwards.

The school this academic year achieved a 97% rating in the Early Childhood Commission’s inspection; a 100% Public Health rating,  expansion of the plant, including two new bathrooms for children and extensions to the kitchen.

The principal said many children showed improvement in literacy and numeracy, and three members of staff were certified in the Early Childhood Commission’s Inclusive Early Childhood Development Course.

Special items were done by Class 1 and Class 2. In addition, Daemario Smith, Chyiese Green, Annora Jarrett and Leshawn Palmer did a special dance item to the song ‘Jamaica We Love You’.

A combined class group rendered an original Dub poem: ‘Strong Minds, Safer Future’.

Goodbye Poem was done by Leshawn Palmer and Kayden Anderson.

All the graduates recited the poem ‘I am ready for Big School ’ and sang ‘The Future Looking Good to Me’

Among the special guests were Councillor Kaydian Harty, Mellicia Lewars, ECC, Region 3 Parent Place Coordinator; Ronald Haughton, Vice Chairman, who read the message from Board Chairman Christine Hill-Smith; and Reverend Wilfred Alexander.

Everton Robinson was the master of ceremonies.

Rackeisha Dunn was the guest speaker and was introduced by Dana Traille, a parent.

Veneisha Dixon began proceedings with a stimulating, inspirational activity.

Jenien Brown Burrell moved the vote of thanks

Six parents and a guardian were among the special awardees. These include: Shanique Dunn, Jason Francis, Kamece Francis and Natasha Gordon.
