ST ANN MAN KILLED IN ST MARY CRASH AFTER VEHICLE HITS HIS, SPINNING IT INTO PATH OF TWO OTHER CARS
TOWER ISLE, St Mary; Aug. 16, 2026
Police are searching for a motorist who was involved in a crash that killed another but who drove away from the scene.
The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Steevie Smith, a security guard of Epworth, St. Ann.
Police say the crash took place along the Tower Isle Main Road, St Mary on Saturday, August 15, 2026, sometime after 9:00 p.m. Four vehicles were involved in the collision.
It is the second fatal crash in two days in St Mary in which a vehicle involved in the collision was driven away from the scene. The North Coast Times on Saturday quoted a police report that on Friday there was a collision near the Enfield Crossing, Annotto Bay, in which 54-year-old Howard Hamilton of Red Hills Road, Port Antonio was killed.
Police have since contacted a Coaster bus owner who was believed to be involved in the collision, about which many details are not known.
In the incident on Saturday, August 15, reports are that Smith was driving a Toyota Fielder motor car along the roadway towards Stewart Town when his vehicle was reportedly impacted by another motor vehicle, which failed to stop at the scene.

As a result of the impact, Smith reportedly lost control of the Toyota Fielder, which spun into the path of two other vehicles travelling along the roadway—a Mercedes-Benz motor car and a Ford Ranger.
Police say Smith became trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters who responded to the scene. He was subsequently pronounced dead.

Other persons involved in the collision sustained injuries and were transported for medical treatment.
The scene was processed, and investigations are continuing as the police seek to identify and locate the driver of the motor vehicle that reportedly failed to stop following the initial collision.
