A man wanted on murder and accessory to murder charges and who was captured by cops recently was denied bail last week.
The accused man is Roshad Moss, alias Shut of Lime Hall, St Ann.
Moss was listed as wanted by the St Ann police for not reporting on condition of bail in Crofts Hill, Clarendon, after he had been charged with crimes in St Ann.
He appeared before the St Ann Parish Court on Thursday, October 13 on allegations of not reporting to the Crofts Hill police in Clarendon. This condition was attached to the bail he received in relation to the murder of Damion Campbell, alias ‘Iron Man.’ Campbell was shot and killed on Tuesday morning, January 5, 2016.
This offence was allegedly committed by Moss while he was on bail on a charge of accessory to murder in relation to the shooting death of 16-year-old Maurice Cox Jnr on May 29, 2015. Police claimed that Moss cleaned the house of blood in order to conceal evidence.
Following several attempts to locate Moss, he was apprehended in a taxi close to the community of Moneague, St Ann, just before 2 on Wednesday afternoon, September 28.
When Moss appeared before the court on Tuesday, October 11, his attorney had indicated that his client’s girlfriend was to take a book to prove that he had been reporting and had asked that the matter be set for Thursday (October 13).
When the matter came before the court last Thursday, Senior Parish Judge Andrea Thomas asked Moss if he had the book and he indicated that he did.
However, the attorney explained that the book that Moss’ girlfriend had brought was an old book and it did not show the current period of reporting. The book that contained the current period of reporting was a small black book.
The attorney further told Judge Thomas that he tried to make contact with the girlfriend, but the calls went to voicemail.
The attorney asked for a chance to speak with his client, and he later told the judge that his client had accepted the breach.
Judge Thomas ordered that Moss be brought back to court on November 17, when he will also appear before the court on a charge of accessory to murder.
YOU WON’T SPEAK
Before he was led from the courtroom, Moss attempted to speak to the judge, but the judge told him that she would not grant him bail and send the wrong signal to the public when he breached his bail condition by not reporting.
She reminded him that he had been given bail twice, on two matters and the conditions of bail are set to be followed.
