PASTOR CLIFFORD CAMERON IS COMMUNITY MAN

HONOURED BY ST ANN MUNICIPAL CORPORATION FOR COMMUNITY AND RELIGIOUS SERVICE

ST ANN’S BAY, St Ann; Dec. 7, 2025

Pastor Clifford Cameron is one of seven people from St Ann honoured by the St Ann Municipal Corporation on National Heroes Day, October 20, 2025.
He has been honoured for his services as a pastor and community leader.
Pastor Cameron continues to live and work in the Lime Hall community, near St Ann’s Bay, where he was born.

He has taken on the mantle of religious and community service, following the work of his father and mother, Lester and Alice Cameron, in the community.
In fact, in 1947, Pastor Lester Cameron started the Temple of Light Church of God at New Ground, Lime Hall, St Ann.

The Bethel Lighthouse Church is affiliated with the Temple of Light Church of God.

Pastor Clifford Cameron says he has done church work and service to God all his life.
He was ordained a minister in 1987, and in 2007 was reassigned to the Order of Bishop. In 2010 he was ordained fully as the number two in command of the Church, with its 19 branches.

He says his Church “believes in the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus. As a revivalist Church, we try to advance and stick to the original roots.”
Married to Gillian since 1986, Pastor Cameron has five children. He’s a farmer on the side, loving and practising chicken rearing.

Clifford Cameron’s work is varied, and that’s perhaps why he is known by so many names in and around Lime Hall – Pastor Rennie, Bishop Rennie, Rennie…  He’s an avid football fan and supporter of the game and has sponsored New Ground Strikers as well as Lime Hall FC. He works closely with Food For The Poor, helping to distribute assistance to people in need in the area.

In addition, Lime Hall Primary is close to his heart, and he often conducts devotional exercises and is involved in cultural activities there, such as Jamaica Day. He’s known as one to be relied on to take candle light vigil for those in mourning as well as to give recommendations for work to young people from the area, many of them he has known from their birth.

He also operates a transport service, taking children from the community almost daily, free of cost, along with his granddaughter, to and from Ferncourt High in Claremont.
Asked about his central philosophy, Pastor Cameron said, “We should do all the good we can; anything we do outside of that will not last. But with God, it will last.”

Speaking to the North Coast Times, Pastor Cameron said, “I felt deep joy within me to be honoured on Heroes Day…It is a great feeling   to know that the work I do has been  well appreciated in my community and adjoining districts.” He said he has been even further motivated to do all the good he can.

Davion Fuller, technician and owner of Heart Electric Tech in Lime Hall, says the award to Pastor Cameron is well merited.  “He has done much for the community, especially with sports and the young people,” Mr Fuller said.

Delroy Howell of SunRay Security Training and Certification Company says he admires  Pastor Cameron for his kindness. “Apart from distributing items to the needy (from Food For the Poor), he only has to hear about a personal need, and he is trying to help,” he said. He said he also admires the Pastor’s character in that even though he’s transporting children for free, often without any sign of displeasure, Pastor Cameron waits for them even when they are late to meet him for the pickup.
