PORTLAND TEEN ACCUSED OF STEALING CASH, FARMER SAID TO HAVE STOLEN LAPTOP

The Portland Police have charged a teenage boy of Port Antonio and a farmer of Hope Bay with larceny and housebreaking in separate incidents.
The teen is from East Baptist Avenue in the parish and cannot be named as he is a minor. He was charged with housebreaking and larceny following an incident that occurred on Friday, September 12, 2025.
According to reports from the Port Antonio Police, a man locked his one-bedroom house and left. Upon his return home, at about 5:00 p.m., he realized that the front door had been forcibly opened, and the house ransacked.

Subsequent checks were made, and it was revealed that J$52,000 in cash was missing, along with a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued at approximately J$30,000.
A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched. During the investigation, the boy was taken into custody and charged. Police said the teenager admitted to taking the money.
His court date is being finalised.
FARMER CHARGED
And a farmer from Hope Bay has been charged with housebreaking and larceny
He is 34-year-old Winston Collington of Mount Herman district, Hope Bay, Portland, and Enfield district, St. Mary.
Collington was charged in relation to an incident in Hope Bay on Tuesday, September 16.

Reports from the Hope Bay Police are that on Monday, September 15, Collington was asked to leave the residence he was at after he and a relative had an argument, and he complied.
At about 7:10 a.m. the following day, the homeowner’s son left his laptop in his room, locked the house, and left for work.
Upon the man’s return that day, he realized that his laptop was missing. A report was made to the police. Sometime after, Collington was seen in the area acting in a manner that aroused the residents’ suspicion. He was held and handed over to the police.
it was later revealed that the homeowner’s son’s laptop had been seen in Collington’s possession.
He was charged on Saturday, September 20, and is scheduled to appear in the Portland Parish Court on Tuesday, October 7.
