BEHIND THE DEATH OF A BRITISH NATIONAL ON ST MARY EXCURSION

FAMILY OF 62-Y-O MAN MAKES SHARP CRITICISMS OF SEVERAL JA AGENCIES

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; Sept. 12, 2025

A United Kingdom family is accusing a raft of Jamaican institutions and businesses of complicity in the death of one of their members, 62-year-old Anthony Hamilton, while on a tour in St Mary.

The initial police report said Hamilton died in a road bike crash on August 28, 2025, near Cascade, St Mary.

However, the family has since produced more details indicating that Mr Hamilton was on an excursion,  arranged by Blue Adventure Tours, and that at the time of his death, he was driving an all-terrain four-wheel vehicle (ATV) that crashed.

His wife was injured in the incident when the vehicle plunged 60 metres over a cliff.

In a release to the North Coast Times, the family said, “This was a catastrophic failure of safety standards, emergency response, and duty of care by multiple parties,” which they list.

The Hamiltons say they want answers and justice, and make several allegations about the tour company and the police in particular.

The North Coast Times has reached out to all the agencies mentioned by the family.

The Hamilton family, in their release, have made stinging criticisms of Blue Adventure Tours, the police, the ambulance that took Mr Hamilton and his wife to hospital, and the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital where she got treatment.

The North Coast Times has been trying to determine, by questions posed to Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo), whether  Blue Adventure Tours was licensed and when it was last checked by the agency. But we have been waiting for the information for more than two days. In the second part of this story, we will provide more details on what we have found out through our investigations and contacts with the various agencies accused.
