BREAK THROUGH IN MONDAY MURDERS EXPECTED

ST MARY POLICE SAID TO BE FOLLOWING ‘VERY STRONG LEADS’, SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY

PORT MARIA, St Mary; February 12, 2026

The St Mary police say they are following “very strong leads” as they investigate two murders committed in the parish on Monday, February 9.

On Thursday evening, February 13, the North Coast Times was informed that police were on the cusp of charging a suspect in one of the murders.

In the first of two incidents, a 59-year-old businessman who operates a tyre shop, Garfield Singh, was shot and killed at his home, part of a complex that also housed the business. In the second incident, police found the body of a taxi operator and party promoter with gunshot wounds near Robins Bay. He is 32-year-old  Kemoy Findley, aka “Turbo” and “Walking Bank”.

Swiftly on the heels of those murders, police clamped curfews on three police divisions, two of which involved the incidents.

Head of the St Mary police, Superintendent Anthony Wallace, says investigators have already “made tremendous progress in both investigations.” He said: “I would think in very short order, we have persons in custody for both incidents, based on the … trajectory that we’re seeing currently in St Mary,” he said.

He described the two killings as “an anomaly” and sought to reassure residents that the parish remained safe.

“We want to also inform criminals who are hell-bent and mashing up the safety of the parish, St Mary is not a place for them,” he said. “We continue to remain very agile, very focused, very dynamic in our activities, and we will get them wherever they are.”

Superintendent Wallace led several police operations across the parish and also led a walk of officers to reassure residents that law officers were working to keep the communities safe.
