POLICE CITE ONGOING SECURITY CONCERNS, TENSION IN AREAS
PORT MARIA, St Mary; Jan 31, 2026
Curfews in different parts of St Mary have been extended until Sunday evening, February 1, 2026
The extension follows the imposition of the curfew on Wednesday evening, January 28, at 6, initially scheduled to end after 48 hours on Friday evening, January 30, at 6.
The areas of the curfew include sections of the Robins Bay and Nutfield communities, located in the Islington Police area of St. Mary, and sections of the Free Hill, Oxford, and Geddes Town communities, located within the Port Maria Police area of St. Mary.
In a release, the police said, “This extension is necessary due to ongoing security concerns within the area. While there has been some improvement, tensions remain, and the continued curfew is required to further stabilize the communities, prevent any resurgence of violence, and allow the police to continue targeted operations in the interest of public safety.”

The extension will take effect from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, and will remain in force until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, unless otherwise terminated.
The boundaries for the areas under curfew were set out in a story published by the North Coast Times on Thursday. CURFEW IN SECTIONS OF ST. MARY
