The family of a St Ann cop who was killed by his colleague more than a month ago at a party in Ocho Rios are breathing a sigh of relief as they are now able to proceed with funeral arrangements. A month after 20-year-old Constable Keemo Walsh, who was attached to the Ocho Rios police was reportedly shot to death by his colleague, 30-year-old Andually Smith, the autopsy on the young cop’s body has just been completed. The family told the North Coast Times that there were some problems being encountered with the post mortem as an X-Ray was not able to be done to locate the bullet in the body. That had upset family members because the first part of the autopsy had been done more than two weeks earlier but it was not complete as the bullet had not been located and an x-ray was necessary.
SHOCK AND HAEMORRHAGE
However, the autopsy was completed on Friday, June 5 and the X-Ray done the following day, Saturday. The autopsy revealed that the cop died as a result of shock and haemorrhage due to the gunshot wound. It is not yet clear when the funeral will take place.Walsh was shot to death on Sunday May 3, about 3 o’clock in the morning at the Grass Hoppa Night Club, White River, by Smith who, according to some reports later turned the gun on himself. However, reports continue to circulate that Smith did not kill himself after he jumped in the back of a police pick-up that was taking Walsh to hospital.It is still not clear the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting of Walsh. Meantime, INDECOM has taken several statements from people who were at the party and police that were in the pick-up that took the two cops to St Ann’s Bay hospital. They are expected to get further reports about what transpired at the club and why no officer took control of the situation even after Walsh was shot.
