The Miss St Mary Festival Queen Competition was held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at which Ms Seymour, a geriatric nurse and past student of Port Antonio High, was assessed by an independent panel of judges.
According to the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), which put on the competition, this year six contestants initially entered the contest. “However, ahead of the coronation, all but Seymour withdrew after being unable to satisfy the competition requirements. The competition therefore proceeded with Mikailia completing the required assessments before an independent panel of judges. Having met the required standard to represent St. Mary, she was awarded the title of Miss St. Mary Festival Queen 2026,” said a release from the JCDC to the North Coast Times.
Ms Seymour, who is from Annotto Bay, said: “I entered the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition because I want to be a voice for Jamaican women and youth. This pageant is more than beauty—it’s about culture, service and leadership. I want to use the platform to showcase our heritage, inspire young girls to be confident in who they are, and give back to the communities that raised me. Jamaica’s story lives in us, and I want to help tell it.”
As she prepares to represent St. Mary at the national Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition, Ms Seymour hopes her journey will encourage other young women to step confidently into leadership,
