WOMEN BEATEN UP, SUPERMARKET ROBBED IN PORT MARIA

MASKED MEN ATTACK 2 WOMEN WHO LIVED UPSTAIRS A CHINESE-OWNED BUSINESS

PORT MARIA, ST MARY; May 12, 2026

Police are searching for four men who held up and assaulted operators of a supermarket in Port Maria and robbed the establishment of cash and items before daylight Tuesday morning, May 12.

Police say the incident took place between 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. at a Chinese-owned supermarket on Stennett Street in Port Maria.

According to reports to police, sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., four masked men gained entry to the establishment by removing sections of concrete securing a metal grill to the building.

The robbers confronted two female occupants who lived in a section of the building upstairs. The men demanded cash and physically assaulted the women. Police said the women sustained facial injuries during the ordeal. The women were then forced downstairs, where the supermarket was opened and ransacked by the men in search of cash.

An undetermined sum of money was stolen before the men fled.

The wounded women were transported to the Port Maria Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
