POLICE ASK COMMUTERS TO FACTOR DELAYS IN THEIR TRAVEL TIME
The St Ann police say they are preparing for heavier than usual traffic as several entertainment events take place across the parish, especially between Ocho Rios and Discovery Bay, over the Easter Holidays.

Commanding Officer for St Ann, Senior Superintendent of Police Dwight Powell says parties and events include Frenchmen’s, several Carnival spots, and the race meet at Dover Raceway, near Brown’s Town. He says Saturday will be the heaviest day
The head of St Ann police is reminding road users that some of the roadways, especially between Mammee Bay and Priory, are often congested on normal days. These roadways are expected to be even more congested over the weekend.

The advisory by the head of St Ann police comes against the background of severe gridlock on major roadways, especially between Ocho Rios and Richmond Estate/Priory because of holiday festivities. On those occasions, people have had to sit in traffic for up to four hours on journeys that should take a few minutes.
SSP Powell said he had reached out to partners including PSTEB, the traffic police, who will help to bolster the numbers of law officers on the streets across the parish.
Among the parties advertised are carnival events for Ocho Rios, Brown’s Town, and Alexandria, off the coastal strip.
