Police Areas are Islington, Boscobel, Annotto Bay, and Three Hills; Security Restrictions Repeated for Days in Some Communities
PORT MARIA, St Mary; June 9, 2026
Four police areas in St Mary involving several communities are under curfews as the police continue to cite increased violence or threats or violence and criminal activity, or the need to preserve public safety.
Curfews were imposed or continued for 48 hours, effective Monday, June 8 at 6 p.m. until Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m., in the police divisions cited.
“During the hours of the curfew, persons within the boundaries of the curfew are required to
remain indoors unless otherwise authorised by the person in charge of enforcing the curfew.”
In some areas, the curfew has been repeatedly renewed for 48 hours at a time, and some communities have been seeing the restrictive security measure on and off for weeks.
APPEAL FOR COOPERATION
In a release, the St Mary police appealed for the cooperation of the residents of the parish.

They said: “These curfews have been introduced in response to increased incidents of violence associated with criminal disputes, as well as concerns relating to motor vehicle thefts, house break-ins, and the presence of criminals seeking to operate within our communities. The intention of these measures is to prevent further violence, protect lives and property, and create a safer environment for all residents.”
The police said the curfews are not aimed at law-abiding citizens but are intended to restrict the movement and activities of individuals who threaten the peace and safety of communities.
“During this period, the police will be conducting strategic operations, intelligence-driven activities, and community engagements aimed at identifying and removing criminal elements. We are asking residents to work with us by sharing information, reporting suspicious activities, and supporting our Community Safety and Security initiatives.”
