Police are investigating the execution of a 76-year-old man in Battersea, near Cave Valley, St Ann.
Herbert Johnson, farmer was shot several times in the face by masked men who invaded his home just before daybreak Thursday, October 20.
Reports to the North Coast Times are that the grandson of Mr Johnson, in a neighbouring house, was awakened by the thugs who instructed him to lead them to Mr Johnson’s house.
Under threat, when the boy did this the men forced their way into the half finished house occupied by Johnson and his wife. Johnson was shot several times in the face by the men, in the presence of his wife and grandson.
Head of St Ann police superintendent Gary Francis confirmed there was no robbery in the incident. However, asked about the vicious execution-style murder on a 76-year-old man, he said police were investigating the serious crime. “It’s obvious that given they went and brought out the little boy to show them where the old people live, and the way they killed him (Johnson) it tells you it didn’t start there,” Superintendent Francis said.
