GUNMAN ESCAPES AFTER CONFRONTATION WITH POLICE

A man who shot and wounded two other men and reportedly shot at an off-duty police officer who challenged him escaped following the incident in Oracabessa, Friday, June 12, 2026.
Reports indicate that at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, in Spicy Grove, Oracabessa, a dispute developed between two men in the area when one of the individuals allegedly brandished a firearm. During the confrontation, two men sustained gunshot wounds. 
An off-duty police officer who was in the vicinity reportedly heard explosions sounding like gunshots and went to investigate. Police say that upon making inquiries, the officer observed a man armed with a firearm and identified himself as a police officer. The armed man allegedly opened fire at the officer, who took evasive action and responded. The suspect subsequently escaped the scene in a motor vehicle.
The injured men were assisted by the police and transported to the hospital, where they were treated for gunshot wounds. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening, and they are reported to be in stable condition.
Investigations into the incident remain ongoing as detectives pursue several leads.
