Mix Up over missing St Mary girl

Police say a 16-year-old girl from St Mary first reported to have been kidnapped was not and that she apparently left of her own free will with a man.

A police release from their information arm (CCU) Monday, Jan 18, had got the details wrong about what had happened in Days Mountain, near Oracabessa, St Mary.

That report, carried in our printed paper this week, said that “Police have issued a ‘high alert’ for 16-year-old Melisha Dyer and her three-month-old child Anthony Smith of Days Mountain district, Oracabessa, St. Mary. They have been missing from home since Saturday, January 16.”

Now police say it’s just the 16 year old, Dyer, who is missing and she was not kidnapped. Infact the girl’s mother had reported to police that she was missing. But local police investigations say she left of her own accord. However, because of the report, police have asked the man with whom Ms Dyer is, to get in touch with them.

(North Coast Times is tracking the story and will provide updates in our printed issue next Tuesday.
