Titchfield High celebrates 230 years

Titchfield High school has launched its 230th anniversary celebration. The celebration was launched with a church service at Christ Church, Port Antonio on Sunday, February 7, under the theme “Buidling 230 years of excellence on proud traditions.”

The school began in the year 1786 in Port Antonio as Free school providing reading, writing, arithmetic, Latin and Greek to boys. It was under the Titchfield Trust. In 1883 the old military barracks of Fort George was leased from the government by the Jamaica School Commission for the siting of the school.
The school has a current student population of 1599 students. Titchfield High is among the top performing schools islandwide. Many great scholars have passed through the gates of Titchfield high.
