ST MARY POLICE SAY PASSENGER HADÂ PISTOL IN BAG

.The St Mary police seized a gun and ammunition and arrested two men travelling in a car on Sunday night, in Port Maria.
The identities of the men are being withheld pending formal charges being laid.

Reports are that about 10:20, Sunday night, April 19, police were conducting an operation on Hudson Street, Port Maria, when they stopped and searched a grey Toyota Fielder, with two occupants. Upon inspection of a brown bag in possession of the passenger, officers discovered a Ruger 9mm pistol, loaded with a magazine containing twelve 9mm cartridges.
The two men in the car, a 39-year-old taxi operator and a 24-year-old Mason, both from St. Mary, were arrested and taken into police custody.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
