More police on that strip from Richmond to Drax Hall
Praises are being heaped on the police who in the last two weeks have maintained their presence on the roadway between Drax Hall and Richmond In St Ann.
The police presence at regular intervals, especially where motorists – and not only public passenger vehicle operators — were known to commit various infringements of the law, to beat the traffic line.
The police actions have helped to streamline the flow of traffic and cut out the boring and illegal overtaking and undertaking that used to take place. Those breaking the law with impunity used to cause frustration for those who stayed in line and followed the road code.
The worst bottlenecks for eastbound traffic in the morning peak are between Plantation and the intersection at Priory. The other is between the St Ann’s Bay exit at Windsor and the stretch outside the Commercial Complex at Drax Hall, through to the intersection at the turnoff to Steer Town and Chalky Hill, outside the Drax Hall playfield.
Police have been taking up positions and pulling over motorists who use the soft shoulder or drive on the wrong side of the road (facing oncoming traffic), simply to get ahead of those in line.
Motorists have seen and experienced much better flow with the police now regularly on the road. They, however, point out that police on motorcycles and not being static would improve the situation even more.
