SIX HONOURED IN ST MARY

 

EIGHT SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED IN HEROES DAY FUNCTION

St Mary honoured its community heroes on Monday, National Heroes Day,  with a ceremony outside the Civic Centre in Port Maria, the capital.

Six residents of the parish were recognized with citations about their individual work and plaques for their services.

They are: Claudette Ann Marie Gordon and Josephine Lynch, for Education; Lola Mason for Education and Community Service, and Icy Grant, Barbara  Lewey and Donna Marie Prehay for Community Service. Reading the citations was Rayon Grandison.

Several cultural items were presented and eight schools were invited to participate. They were  Marymount High, Liberty Academy, Three Hills, Hillside, Oracabessa Water Valley, Free Hill and Port Maria Primary Schools.

Uniformed groups from the parish including police, fire brigade and cadet staged a march past and were later examined by Custos Errol Johnson and Mayor of Port Maria Richard Creary.
