6 HONOURED IN ST ANN

CIVIC FUNCTION ALSO REWARDS BRAVERY

Six residents of St Ann were honoured in St Ann’s Bay on Monday, National Heroes Day for their services to different aspects of life in the parish.

The recognition of the six came at a Civic Ceremony held at the foot of the statue of National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey, at Lawrence Park.

One of the six, Mervin Kelly was recognized for his act of bravery during flood rains last year October when he saved the life of a man and his daughter, in Cave Valley.

The others and the fields of service were:

Gabbriel Delapenha – Community Service; Pansy Osbourne –Culture; Clifton Reader – Tourism; Rev Philbert Whynn, Religion and Community Service and Carlene Whittingham –Philanthropy and Community Service.

Citations were read for each of them and plaques were presented by different persons on behalf of the St Ann Municipal Corporation’s Civic Affairs Committee.

 

Chair of that committee Councillor Genevor Gordon Bailey gave the vote of thanks.

Oliver Fagan chaired the programme.

Among the audience were several councillors and Miss St Ann Festival Queen 2023, Ayoka Davis.
