RM rejects argument that knife was for work

A man who appeared before the Port Maria RM court on a charge of possession of an offensive weapon was fined $2,000 or ten days in custody after his explanation, as to why he had a knife wasn’t good enough for, RM Andrea Collins.

The accused is Richard Anderson. He told RM Collins that he worked on a construction site and had taken the knife to work as it was one of his “working tools.” He said it was used to sharpen pencils and cut sheet rock.

When asked why he did not leave it at work, he told the RM that someone would take it away as had been done before.

He was ordered by the RM not to walk around with a knife.
