RETIRED TEACHER KILLED

RETIRED TEACHER KILLED

Found dead with wound to head at home

Cops say they are moving on several fronts in their investigations into the murder of a retired teacher in Brimmer Hall, St Mary. Dead is sixty-five-year-old Elizabeth Lindo of Old Road, BrimmerHall, near Bailey’s Vale, St Mary.  Ms Lindo’s body was discovered Tuesday May 20, by her brother who went to look for her, having not seen her for more than a day. He found her in her home, with a wound to her head and a bloodied building block nearby. It is believed that Ms Lindo was sexually assaulted. She had no children and lived alone. Ms Lindo’s niece, Curline Wildman told the North Coast Times that since her aunt returned home after her final years of teaching in Kingston, she had lived alone. Ms Wildman said Ms Lindo’s death hurt badly and she was having a hard time coming to terms with what had happened. She said her aunt was “lively” and in constant praise of God and troubled no one. She said Ms Lindo was a devout member of the Emmanuel Church of God and that her worship seemed to bother some people. She said also there was a long standing dispute over land with some neighbours.  She said there were several clues that police could follow but would not elaborate on what those were or on the dispute with neighbours. Police said they had arrested a 19-year-old from the community but had to release him for want of evidence. DSP Jervis Moore, in charge of Crime in Area 2, said police were continuing their investigations and were awaiting the holding of the post-mortem.
