2 PEOPLE WOUNDED IN RELATED INCIDENT IN THREE HILLS
THREE HILLS, St Mary; May 26, 2026
An off-duty policeman shot and killed a man who was allegedly armed with a gun at a bar in Three Hills, St Mary, on Monday night, May 25, 2026.
The man killed is unidentified.
The police report that at the same location, two people were shot and wounded by a man who held them up and robbed them. It is not clear if the man slain was the suspect in that robbery.
The police report that the incident took place at Liberty Estate, Phase 1, Three Hills, St. Mary, after 9 p.m. on Labour Day.
According to the St Mary police, preliminary reports indicate that residents heard loud explosions and cries for help in the area. The police further report that:
“A resident, who is a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, reportedly went to make checks after hearing the disturbance and observed a man dressed in dark clothing armed with a firearm moving in his direction. The officer identified himself as a police. However, the armed man allegedly pointed the firearm at him. The officer reportedly took evasive action and discharged his service weapon.
Following the incident, the man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and in possession of a firearm. He was transported to the Port Maria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.” A firearm was reportedly seized.
Subsequent investigations revealed that two people who were inside a room above a bar in the community were attacked by an armed man who reportedly forced entry and opened fire, wounding both — a man and his fiancée – before fleeing the scene.
The wounded people were taken for medical treatment. Their condition was not known.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
