There has been no breakthrough in the murder of a Canadian woman who was killed in Discovery Bay, St Ann two weeks ago.
The body of Shirley McFarlane-Lewis of Canada was found on December 30 at a house in Discovery Bay. Reports are that about 4 pm on December 30, a resident who lives in the area went to check on Mrs Lewis after not seeing her throughout the day.
Police say the resident climbed on to a ledge and saw Mrs Lewis on her bed lying in a pool of blood.
The police were alerted and Mrs Lewis was seen on the bed with what appeared to be blunt force wounds to the face. Mrs Lewis was 53.
Checks by the North Coast Times revealed that Mrs Lewis had been living in the area for a few years during which time she travelled back and forth to Canada. Residents said she was friendly and did her shopping in the area but was rarely seen accompanied by anyone. It is reported that she had come to Jamaica because she had married a man from Salem, Runaway Bay in the parish but little was known of him.
People in the area said they had no information about the man and they had no idea who would want to kill her. A postmortem last week reportedly revealed Mrs Lewis died from wounds to the face and upper body.
Police have said they have questioned several persons but have made no arrests. Relatives of the slain woman have criticized the local police for what they consider the slow pace of the investigations.
