It’s a mixed bag of results for teams from St Ann, St Mary and  Portland in the second round of the DaCosta Cup in matches played Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22.

YORK CASTLE

York Castle High continued their DaCosta Cup dominance when the whipped Seaforth High 4-0 at York Oval, St. Thomas Friday afternoon. The two teams are to meet again on Tuesday at Drax Hall with York Castle odds on favourite to advance.

On the York Castle score sheets were regular goal scorers this season: Tarique Jones, Javandy Clarke, Kevaun Harris and

Odane Wilberforce.

ST MARY TEAMS

It was not such good fortune for another surprise team this year, Tacky High of St Mary, who went down 2-1 to Glenmuir at Drax Hall on Saturday.

Glenmuir dominated the first half with ball possession but the Tacky defensive players stuck to the game plan to make it difficult for them.

Glenmuir went ahead in the 37th minute scoring from a set play ending the half 1-0 over Tacky.

Tacky came out strong in the second half but their woes increased when a defensive error let through Glenmuir in the 60th minute. Tacky continued to fight stubborny and were rewarded with a strike by Roario Gibb’s the team’s leading goal scorer. But they couldn’t get another to deny the Clarendon team the win.

Another St Mary team, St Mary Technical lost heavily to powerhouse Clarendon College 7-1.

PORTLAND TEAMS

Happy Grove came away with a 3-3 draw against Christiana High in their encounter on Saturday so it could be anybody’s game in the return leg.

Another Portland team, Titchfield High have a mountain to climb if they are to advance, following a 3-0  loss to Frome on Saturday, at Carder Park in Port Antonio.
