JLP 7, PNP 2
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) remains in control of the Portland Municipal Corporation (PMC) following the February 26 Local Government Elections.
The JLP won seven divisions to the People’s National Party (PNP) 2. That is exactly as the situation was in the previous administration of the Council.
The JLP swept all four Portland West seats and took three of the five in Portland East. In Portland East, the popular vote (Preliminary Count) was close with the JLP 6848 and the PNP 6476.

The JLP won in: Balcarres – Rohan Vassel, returning; Buff Bay, Dionne Hunter, returning; Hope Bay – Orton Manahan, new; St. Margaret’s Bay, Clyde McKenzie, new; Fellowship, Shanice Green, new; Athlee Cleary – Fairy Hill new; Manchioneal, Paul Thompson, returned.
For the PNP the two Councillors who served in the last administration return. They are Dexter Rowlands, Port Antonio, and Wayne McKenzie, Prospect Division.
