IMPORTANT POINTS FOR ELECTION DAY

WORKERS MUST BE ALLOWED 3 HOURS OFF TO VOTE IF…

Polling stations open at 7 on Monday morning, February 26, and close at 5 in the afternoon. If you are in the line at the station at 5 you will be allowed to vote.

If you have issues, including questions about how to mark the ballot, speak with an EOJ representative there.

It is a crime to show anyone your ballot after you have marked it.

You should go behind the curtain in the voting booth and mark your ballot.

If you are duly registered and your name is on the voters’ list but you do not have your ID when you turn up at the polling station,  you should be allowed to vote, following certain procedures by the EOJ staff

Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, says

“What we would like to say to the public first is, before you even come to the

polling station, you need to determine and ensure that you know exactly where your polling station is located.”

To find out where to vote, electors are asked to call the Electoral Office of

Jamaica’s (EOJ) toll-free helpline at 888-991-VOTE (8683) or visit the

Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) website at https://ecj.com.jm/ and click on the ‘Check My Status’ feature.

Remember too that every Jamaican worker is entitled to three hours off from work to allow them to vote. This does

not apply to people whose shift on the day commences at or after 10 in the morning or ends at or before 2 p.m.
