Konshens

Konshens video ‘Music’ can now be viewed on MTVIggy.com as the global brand MTVIggy has just confirmed the feature of this video, which is directed by RD Studios. The single, ‘Music’, discusses the power of music and how music has been so influential in the life of Garfield Spence ‘AKA’ Konshens. Despite the hurt and pain in this messed up world or the dark days and night so many face, music gets him /us through. One of the most potent parts of the song is the question: How can you not support something, which unite so much people and feed so much children?

Kalado

For the second time since the start of this year, dancehall artiste, Kalado, treated his Canadian fans to a dazzling, unforgettable performance and still managed to leave them wanting more. The artiste, has demonstrated his ever-increasing star power. Not even the rain in Montreal could dampen the mood, as the ‘Personally’ singer upped the ante and delivered a great performance at the annual Montreal International Reggae Festival. For an artiste making his debut at an overseas festival of this caliber, the critics agree that Kalado was impressive. Actually, Kalado was a last-minute addition to the event, having had his August tour of Europe cancelled, thus freeing him up for other lucrative engagements.

His fans hey stood in the pelting rain and gleefully sang word-for-word songs such as ‘Good Good’, ‘Personally’, ‘Body Nuh Dead’, ‘Make Me Feel’, ‘Sad Streets’, ‘Pree Money’, ‘Pay Dem No Mind’ and ‘Take A Ride’. As Kalado said: “I was very surprised to see how many thousands of people were standing in the rain singing and cheering me on after every song. It was a great opportunity and I really had a great time.”

Aidonia

The management of Dancehall artiste Aidonia issued a press release stating that he will not be appearing at a concert in Amsterdam, Netherlands on September 5. It’s reported that the artiste was forced to withdraw following activities by the alleged organizers.

John Holt

Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes and Affiliates (JAVAA), is wishing singer John Holt a speedy and lasting recovery, following his recent collapse on stage at the One Love Festival in Springfield in the United Kingdom. It’s said that the  ‘I Want A Love I Can Feel’ singer did an operation in July and was, perhaps, back in action too early. “I just think he went back to performing too early. We don’t want to lose anybody else at this point in Jamaican music – certainly, not Holt,” said a JAVAA representative who also encourages performers to ensure that they are covered by an effective health-insurance policy, as sickness and death are inevitable. “We want to know that our musicians are healthy as possible, because health is vital. We can’t afford to lose somebody like Holt, because he is one of the few living vintage artistes who have been holding up the music in the four corners of earth.” The singer continues to receive treatment at an undisclosed location. The 2014 One Love Festival was dedicated to the memory of Nelson Mandela.

Macka Diamond

Macka Diamond feels “disrespected” by comments made by Sound System Selector Tony Matterhorn. In an Instagram post recently, the Selector made reference to Macka Diamond in relation to being old while dating younger men. However, the Female Artiste says she was never offended until he sought to describe her private parts. However Matterhorn in a follow up post, said he was making a joke. Macka Diamond says it’s not funny.

Rihanna & Jay Z

It looks like Jay Z may need to spend a little more time focusing on his artistes. Rumour has it Rihanna is upset with her mentor after Jay ditched her show. Ri Ri was allegedly expecting Jay to show up at her Rose Bowl performance on the “Monster” tour with Eminem, but he never showed up. “Rihanna was extremely surprised and later said she wouldn’t be surprised if Beyoncé told him not to go,” a source claims. “Even though Rihanna is on Jay’s Roc Nation label, it was a big slight to her that he didn’t show up.”  Hip safe and party safe, Courtney Mac a seh safe travel pon di gravel, Keep in touch with Hip news at macpr@ymail.com or courtneymcintosh@gmail.com contact The North Coast Times by email at thenorthcoasttimes@yahoo.com or log on to our website.
