COPS CHARGE ST JAMES MAN WHO HANDED HIMSELF OVER TO GAYLE POLICE

The man who turned himself in to the St Mary police on Friday, May 15, has been charged with the murder of his 35-year-old wife, who resided in New York, USA.
Melissa Kerry Samnath, an accountant of New York, USA, was pronounced dead at Cornwall Regional Hospital on April 29 after she was found battered and with multiple wounds in a house in Norwood, the day after she came to Jamaica to celebrate her birthday. A post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday, May 6, determined that Ms. Samnath died from multiple blunt force trauma to the head
Police charged 32-year-old Dane Anthony Watson with murder on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The North Coast Times reported on Saturday, May 16, that Watson turned himself over to police in St Mary after he had been listed as a person of interest by the St James police in the death of Ms Samnath. It had been reported that Watson and Samnath were married last December. It has been further reported that after Samnath was found battered and wounded in a house in Norwood, Watson went along in the car that took her to the hospital and then disappeared.
He was listed as a person of interest in the death of Ms Samnath and then turned himself over to the Gayle Police. In a brief release on Wednesday, May 20, police said Watson was charged, and details would be available later.
