GEOFFERY AND GLORIA JOHNSON CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Bishop Geoffery and wife Gloria Johnson celebrated their fiftieth (50th) anniversary with a lavish family dinner and praise to God on Friday, June 6 at the Jewel Resort Runaway Bay, St Ann. The couple has been wed since June 7, 1964 and expressed fond memories of their wedding day and their marriage and gave gratitude to all who came out to support them, including their seven children who organized the dinner. The reception was emceed by, Dorrel ‘Aunty’ Campbell Campbell’ who did a fantastic job in keeping the crowd entertained and in praising the marriage of Bishop Geoffery and Gloria Johnson.  In glowing tributes from family and friends, their wedding was one described to be as an outstanding event held on a Sunday evening on June 7, 1964, inside a country church. Bishop Geoffrey is currently the Bishop at the Apostolic Ark, in Brown’s Town St Ann.

In a tribute from Angela Williams she said “ It is amazing to believe that time can fly so fast, you are married for 50 years, you both are now at a golden place, a milestone that many couples did not and will not realize. Fifty years of doing anything is a long time, yours has been 50 years of happy marriage a remarkable way.  Today we are gifted with a limited number of truly landmark moments  so this your anniversary would not have gone unnoticed, thank God the children took the baton. This is the time to look back on those moments that slowly brought you both where you are today. You are still anticipating and still writing pages that will be remembered tomorrow, you both keep the family together and demonstrate well how love and marriage can work, also to keep the family together in love caring and sharing…We wish for you continued good health, God’s rich grace and sustaining peace in a troubled world. May God bless you both.”

Others who made tributes included, guest speaker Frank Otta, Dr. Fiona Pinnock and Custos of St Ann Norma Walters. Before the cake cutting, Bishop Johnson briefly gave the guests several positive tips on how to have a long and joyful marriage. He also said that he and his wife found challenges throughout their 50 years of marriage but by trusting in God they eventually overcame them. He gave credit to his children: Geoffery Johnson Jr., Donna Livingston, Linden Johnson, Windel Johnson, Marvel Johnson, Sharlene Johnson and Thalia Johnson for their efforts in making the event a success. Guests were then treated to a scrumptious meal and delicacies, by the Jewel Runaway Bay staff.
