Detectives attached to the Area One Narcotics Division have seized a quantity of ganja in a motor truck and several drums of gasoline aboard a boat in Unity Hall, St. James on Sunday, February 7.
Reports are that about 7:30 p.m., Police officers were on an operation when they intercepted the motor truck with two persons aboard. Upon seeing the Police, both men fled. The vehicle was searched and approximately 1,020 pounds of compressed ganja was found. Police said the ganja was valued at $7.7 million.
They said further investigations led them to Rum Bottle Beach in the said community, where a boat with five drums and about fifteen five-gallon bottles of gasoline were seized. Two men where taken into custody in connection with this seizure. Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations. The boat and the truck were seized.
