BUSINESSMAN TO HAVE 2 -EX-MAYORS IN THE COUNCIL
Businessman and councillor-elect for the Boscobel Division, Fitzroy Wilson, will be Mayor of Port Maria and chairman of the St Mary Municipal Corporation.
Wilson won the seat in the Boscobel Division by defeating Jamaica Labour Party candidate Leroy Sewell who had defeated him in 2016. The PNP won the SMMC winning 7 seats to the JLP’s six.
Five of the six PNP councillors elect voted for Wilson. Paul Fyffe, the candidate elected from Highgate will be Deputy Mayor.
The SMMC will have two ex-Mayors when it commences sitting with Richard Creary being the most recent, in the administration from 2016 to 224. The other is Levan Freeman, Councillor Elect from Bellfield Division, who was Mayor in the previous PNP-led administration.
