The new Mayor will come from among the winning JLP Councillors in Monday’s Local Government Elections.

The North Coast Times has been talking to political contacts and decision-makers in the Council and has been told that the Mayor will be from the North East St Ann Constituency.

It emerged early Friday afternoon that Belnavis will be the Mayor, following a caucus of the JLP councillors and input from some MPs.

Since the elections, before Belnavis’ appeared to be favoured two names suggested repeatedly were Dalas Dickenson from the St Ann’s Bay Division and Ian Isaacs from the Exchange Division. Both of those divisions enjoyed strong JLP support and gave their candidates big wins in the elections.
