The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) interviewed Thompson under caution and got a preliminary statement from him.
Shortly after killing Pearson, Thompson resigned from the Police Force and left the island to the United States of America (USA).
Meantime, INDECOM investigations led to a recommendation to the Director of Public Prosecutions that Thompson be charged for murder. With the help of American officials, INDECOM was able to ascertain his location and have him deported.
Thompson was arrested in the US and deported Thursday, August 30. He was arrested and charged for murder when he returned to the country.
Pearson’s mother, Carolyn Proudlove has been pushing for justice in the death of her son and contacted The Times on numerous occasions including when Thompson left the country.
She has been attending court and says she is happy with the support from INDECOM.
Mrs Proudlove told the North Coast Times that she was satisfied with how things were going, especially with the effort of INDECOM.
