A St Mary farmer has been charged with murder and arson in the death of a woman and her daughter in a fire in the parish last week.
Charged with two counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder and arson is Daniel Spike of Fraserwood Content, St. Mary.
Dead are thirty-eight-year-old Rose Beecher and her four- year-old daughter Sariah Kowen.
Spike is said to have been in a relationship with Ms Beecher. However, Beecher ended the relationship.
Spike was held shortly after fire destroyed a board and zinc dwelling occupied by a family in Dean Pen district Highgate on Tuesday morning, October 18. During cooling-down operations. firefighters found the charred remains of four-year-old, Sariah Kowen.
The girl’s mother, Ms Beecher, a bartender, died the following day in hospital from her burns.
Five other family members were treated.
Spike was charged on Monday, October 24.
