With the restoration project now complete, the school is better positioned to support additional students, with essential facilities restored to facilitate daily operations and enhance student welfare. Principal of Bamboo Primary School, Tricia Scarlett-Cameron, expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the damage sustained by the kitchen had significantly disrupted the school’s lunch programme. “We are grateful to the NET for coming on board. After the hurricane, our facilities were so badly damaged that we had to suspend our lunch operations at the school. Our students were greatly impacted. Now that NET has restored our kitchen facility, we are able to provide lunch for our students again,” she said.
Members of the school’s support staff have also welcomed the restoration of the kitchen.
Executive Director of NET, Latoya Harris-Ghartey, said restoring essential facilities is a critical part of efforts to help school communities recover from the impact of natural disasters.
NET is a registered charitable organization and agency of the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information.
