Four men have been charged after allegedly robbing a man of high-value jewellery, estimated at nearly J$5 million, as he left a party and then, days later, demanded two million dollars ($2-M) to return the items.

The accused are:

  1. Twenty-eight-year-old Oshane Fitten, a musical engineer of Mahogany Drive, Lawrence

Tavern, St Andrew;

  1. Twenty-five-year-old Jordan Grant of Burnside Hill, Red Hills, St Andrew;
  2. Twenty-six-year-old Miguel Thomas, otherwise called ‘Plummie’, a roofer of Murtle

Way, Passagefort, St Catherine; and

  1. Twenty-six-year-old Antonio Wright, otherwise called ‘CJ’, a music producer of

According to reports from the St Ann’s Bay Police, at about 3:15 a.m., on Sunday, October 18,  Fitten and Grant, allegedly  held a man at gunpoint and robbed him of jewellery valued at approximately US$30,000 (J$ 4.8 million) as he was leaving an event at Priory in the parish. The men reportedly fled the scene in a waiting truck.

A few days later, Grant allegedly contacted the man and demanded J$2 million to return the stolen items. The man initially refused but later agreed to pay J$1 million and arranged a meeting.

A report was made to the police, who intercepted and arrested all four men.

Police did not say how the other two men were involved in the crime.

Grant and Fitten were positively identified by the complainant as the men who robbed him of his chain and watch. The four men were searched, and the stolen items were recovered.

Their court date is being finalised.
