An ‘Oasis of Excellence’ in Discovery Bay

Touch of Love Nursery and Learning Centre was founded by Pastor Teriece Murray in 2010 with only three students. It started out in Mrs. Murray’s home in Bridge Water, Discovery Bay, St Ann, and later changed location after the school’s student body began to grow.

The school’s principals are Ionie McKenzie and Sharon McKenzie (no relation) and the school now boasts a nursery, kindergarten and primary department with 17 members of staff on hand. The once small student body has since grown to a whopping 137 students who travel from as far as Brown’s Town each day to sit under the tutelage of their “aunties” as the teachers are affectionately called.

Children are accepted from as early as three to six months old and are given the opportunity to matriculate through a series of traditional and non-traditional methods of learning, ranging from the Ministry of Education’s curriculum to more hands on courses like Cognitive, Arts & Craft, various clubs and societies and so on.

To maintain the school’s reputation as a nurturer of excellence and success, only selected students are accepted into Touch of Love Nursery and Learning Centre. This, after being assessed and their behavioral patterns established and understood. Attesting to the fact that the students are well rounded, not only excelling academically, but also socially, Patricia Williams, head of administration beamed as she told  the North Coast Times that  the school did well in the JCDC Competition (2016) for dance. ‘Aunty Pat’ said that’s how the school has been able to mold and groom them to become the best versions of themselves.
