GROVE, PT ANTONIO HIGH LOSE AT HOME
The four teams from the Northeast all went down to losses in the first round Group of 16 matches in the schoolboy football daCosta Cup competition.
The two Portland teams, Happy Grove and Port Antonio lost to teams from the West, in a doubleheader at Carder Park, in their home parish. Happy Grove lost 2-3 to BB Cooke of St Elizabeth and Port Antonio lost 0-1 to Frome, through Demar Williams’ 20th-minute strike
Happy Grove were in fact leading 2-1 in their contest with BB Coke but surrendered their lead, before giving up the third goal a minute before time.
Goal scorers for BB Coke were Jahmaul Wright in the 10th, Zorek Grant, in the 56th with a penalty, and Devontae Blake in the 89th minute.
For Happy Grove, Oshane Chambers 25th, and Shevon Miller 37th minute were on the scorecard.
Tacky High who are into the Group of 16 for the first time went down 1-4 to Manchester High, away.
William Knibb of Trelawny also lost to a Manchester team, Christiana by 2 goals to 3.
Action continues on Wednesday, with second-round matches in the Group of 16.
