A mother’s plea for her dead son

MONEAGUE STUDENT SLAIN

The mother of Xavier James is appealing to anyone who knows who killed her son to go to the police with the information. Speaking with the North Coast Times on Sunday, June 1, Mrs. James said she did not sleep on Saturday night nor on the previous Saturday night, May 24 after her son was killed. She said she has been hearing all the good things about her college student son who was stabbed to death on Saturday night, May 24. Police have held no one in connection with the murder. Eighteen-year-old James was a first year student in business admin at Moneague College. The graduate of Ferncourt High and Ocho Rios High was considered brilliant in mathematics. In fact, reports are that two college friends came to his house over Math papers and he walked them out to the road from his home in Buckfield on that Saturday evening when he met his demise. Some reports say he went into Ocho Rios proper, from his community of nearby Buckfield. His mother said she got reports that Xavier went into a KFC restaurant in Ocho Rios to escape three men who were chasing him and the security guard turned him out of the restaurant. In the interview The Times pointed out to Mrs James  that, were that true, it would be easy for the police to acquire the security tape and to identify his attackers.

SO MANY DREAMS

Mrs James said she heard that after Xavier had been stabbed and fell by the roadside several motorists refused to take him to hospital, complaining about what would happen to their cars. “What kind of society is this we have eeh. What kind of heartless people.” She said people must have seen what happened but weren’t coming forward to the police. “They don’t want to talk…We need to be a more caring, concerned people…we have to get out of the demon  possession of our young people and put God first,” Mrs James said. She said she had been told by Xavier’s teachers that he was the neatest boy on the campus and was well behaved. She said he was one who loved to engage in debates, often taking the unexplored or more controversial view. She said he was keen to complete his studies and go on to the degree. “He had so many dreams… he wanted to be a businessman and wanted to move into so many other things,” she said. Xavier’s father, Vincent ‘Blue’ James said “I can’t give an explanation how I am coping.” He too said the police needed information to help their investigation. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, the family said.
