Early Start On International Coastal Cleanup day
(Buff Bay Beach)
Some Portlanders who give great value to the environment and especially to the sea that forms one of their parish’s boundaries were out early Saturday, Sept. 16, International Coastal Clean-Up Day.
There were several clean-up sites.
From early this morning, students teachers, and parents from Liberty Learning Centre, Buff Bay along with workers and management from LifeSpan Spring Water could be seen cleaning up the Buff Bay fishing beach
In Buff Bay they picked up and put in bags garbage from the shoreline. Much of it was plastic.
The Day is observed as a promise to bring cleanliness and purity to nature as a whole. The day was started as a way to raise awareness about the growing pollution on various beaches of the world.
Clean-up is taking place all across Jamaica with environmental, civic and community groups as well as business interests leading the way.
