Big-time schoolboy football returns to Portland on Tuesday, September 12 with fans to get a chance to see all four teams from Portland in the daCosta Cup.

Already the pundits say the favourites are Titchfield and Happy Grove. Both of those teams moved to the Inter-Zone stage last season and want to do the same and then some, this year.

But even though Titchfield from the parish capital and Happy Grove from Hector’s River are being touted as the teams to watch, no one should dismiss the other contenders, Port Antonio and Fair Prospect.

Raymond Gordon Titchfield’s coach the second time around has retained twelve players from last season’s squad. He says “We’re in a rebuilding process and learning the basics of the game. We lost our captain to one of the urban schools, and that has affected us”.

Happy Grove Coach Vincent Wallace says: “We have retained nine persons from last season and we are seeing how the others will gel into the team. It is a work in progress”.

At Port Antonio High, coach Marlon Hylton told North Coast Times: “We are in the rebuilding stage from last year some young players and we have lost some promising players and we are back at the drawing board”.

Fair Prospect High has a new coach in Richard Edwards. “It’s a young team and they are learning the game. We just have to see how they apply themselves”.

Carder Park will be buzzing on  Tuesday and Wednesday as Titchfield host Fair Prospect and Port Antonio host Happy Grove, respectively.
