Competition Starts To Choose JFF Tier 2 Teams
Wi-Fi SC of Portland beat Madras FC of St Ann in their first Group B game as the competition got off to decide Tier Two winners for the JFF.
Wi-Fi won by 2-0 , their goals coming from prolific striker Tyrone Brown, in the match at Carder Park Port Antonio Saturday, August 26.
Coach for the winners, Brenton Lopez said it was important to have three points in the bag. “It’s going to get better going on,” he said.
Alanzo Wallace, coach for Madras said his team should have walked away with at least a draw. He said, especially on the road, chances such as they had in the match should be taken.
Manager for the team, Stephen Jennings said Madras would learn from the experience, including the nearly four-hour travel to the match. He said his team was perhaps overconfident because of its dream run, to take the St Ann Major League title.
Madras will play at their home ground on Saturday, September 2, when they face Grays Inn SC, of St Mary the other team in group B.
Group B is one of the four in which teams are arranged across the island. The winner of each group will make it to the semi-finals and the top three will go on to Tier 2 in the JFF-administered league.
