PNP Condemns ‘Brazen Robbery’
NO ONE INJURED IN EARLY MORNING ATTACK
Police say they have launched a high-level investigation into a robbery and shooting at a hotel in Runaway Bay St Ann.
Meantime the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) says it “vehemently condemns the brazen robbery.” The Party said: “This alarming incident highlights the need to arrest the country’s runaway crime problem.”

The robbery took place at the family all-inclusive FDR Resort about 200 yards from the Runaway Bay Police station, in Runaway Bay, St Ann.
Reports are that as many as seven men carrying high-powered weapons entered the hotel premises, from the main road, about 3 a.m. Friday. They held up the night auditor, demanded money, and fired shots. They got a small amount of money and were leaving when, at the gate, they held up two tourists returning to the resort. The tourists resisted and the men again fired shots. No one was injured.
According to a release issued Saturday morning, June 24 by the police, they “have some initial leads in the case and are actively pursuing them.” They said detectives from the St. Ann Division, along with experts from the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC), are investigating the robbery.
Here is how the police reported the incident:
“Reports are that about 3:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023, a group of men went to the office, demanded money and proceeded to rob the night manager on duty of a small sum of cash. None of the guests or other members of staff on duty at the location were harmed.
“On leaving the premises they approached a couple at the gate and demanded money. The couple refused their demand and drove to the police station and reported the matter.
The men fired, and left the premises on foot. No one was injured.
The police are asking anyone with information to call the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) Tip Line at 811, Crime Stop at 311, police emergency at 119 or the nearest police station.”
