Family Says Cops Not Doing Enough
The St Ann police are pushing back against a claim that they have not been diligent in searching for a taxi operator who disappeared more than a month ago.
Thirty-four-year-old Jevan Dickenson who went missing Monday, May 1, has not been seen since. He was last seen driving a blue Probox that he operated on the Lime Hall to St Ann’s Bay route. He was reported missing three days later, Thursday, May 4.
The family is now offering a reward of $300,000 for information that may lead to locating the taxi operator.
A close relative told the North Coast Times that the family is not convinced that police are really trying to find Dickenson or find out hat happened to him. They said the family has given the police information which they didn’t seem to be following. This included the fact that he had two telephones and information about an intimate associate. They said the first report they got suggested police only got information on one of the phones.
They have also been disappointed that two people who were taken into custody as part of the investigation were released within a day. According to relatives the two people taken into custody were not detained long enough to feel pressured and to give information.
But Deputy Superintendent of Police Linton Bailey, in charge of crime in St Ann, said he personally had followed every line or information given and that he too had been in touch with one of the relatives. He named the relative and said the police were not going to spread rumour. DSP Bailey said they would continue to do what was right in the investigation.
He said “Whatever information they gave us we have exhausted….There has been no citing he has just gone missing.” DSP Bailey said the police were awaiting some information from the Cyber Crimes unit and would keep communicating with the family.
The family member who asked not to be named said, “They [police] have been dragging their feet.” She said we have not given up. We are not giving up.
