This is more than a pothole now
Motorists, especially taxi operators continue to complain about the state of the roads in the town of Ocho Rios, St Ann.
Picture at left shows the expanse of the hole and at right a vehicle makes its way into and over this nasty spot
They point to a huge pothole across a section of the roadway on one of the business thoroughfares, in the town, Evelyn Street. The pothole that covers the southbound lane next to a road island across from the Mennonite Church has been deepening and spreading for weeks now and often carries water.
People have been asking how a hole like this that causes delays in the traffic on such a heavily trafficked street has been neglected for so long. There are in that very area several supermarkets and wholesale operations, offices and furniture shops and the Ocho Rios police station.
Taxi operator Bunny says: “It’s a disgrace. It backs up traffic and it’s right there in the centre of town.”
