Wavell Hinds Set To Replace Lisa As PNP Candidate

PNP Gen Sec to meet candidates Friday

It appears that cricketer Wavell Hinds is to get the official nod of the People’s National Party to be its candidate in St Ann South Eastern in the next General Elections.

Wavell Hinds said to have topped polls
Lisa Hanna– Not running in SE St Ann

Several sources told North Coast Times that a poll done in the constituency, results of which were revealed Wednesday, April 12, has shown that Hinds enjoys the majority support among voters in the South Eastern St Ann (SESA) Constituency now represented by Lisa Hanna.

Ms Hanna has already said she will not run in that seat in the next Elections.

In the last several weeks there has been efforts by three candidates, including Hinds, to win over support to convince the party of who would be best candidate.

The others who have been vying to contest the seat for the PNP are, Dr Kenneth Russell, who was born and grew up in the Constituency and Patricia Duncan Sutherland who has run failed campaigns for the PNP in Clarendon.

Mr Hinds a well-known former cricketer and cricket administrator has also run and lost for the PNP, in Hanover in the last General Eections.

PNP General Secretary Dr Dayton Campbell would not confirm to the North Coast Times reports that Hinds is now the official candidate. Asked whether Hinds had emerged front-runner in polls done by the Party, Dr Campbell would only say polls were a part of the selection process.

He said he would be meeting with the candidates and their managers Friday before making a statement.
