North Eastern Parks and Markets (NEPM) Waste Management Limited say there is zero backlog in garbage collection in the parishes of St Ann, St Mary, and Portland.
NEPM is the regional arm of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and received 10 compactor trucks in November 2022.
NEPM’s Regional Operations Manager, Tracy Fakhourie, said the region, which comprises St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland, has been in an “extremely good position” since the new units were put into service.
She told JIS News that a massive clean-up blitz, started by the NEPM across the three parishes in December 2022, helped to clear the backlog.
