The Grand Bahia Principe Hotel, Runaway Bay, has once again been in the media for the wrong reason.
A nude mentally ill man was shot dead early Friday morning, October 5 by a security guard after he entered the hotel property in Runaway Bay, St Ann and allegedly threw stones at a guard on duty.
Up to press time Monday, the man was still unidentified.
The Runaway Bay police are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man who was allegedly shot dead in the staff quarters.
Police reports are that the security guard saw the man entering the hotel compound at about 3:15 a.m. and accosted him.
The intruder then allegedly attacked the guard by throwing stones at him. The guard persisted in trying to subdue him but the man did not relent.
The guard reportedly pulled his firearm and fired, resulting in the intruder being hit.
